Application Range

BND-L is an effective preservative, antimicrobial agent, and protective agent. It can be used in cosmetics, medical diagnostic products, household items, water systems, coatings, and paints.

It acts as both a surfactant and an antimicrobial preservative, and is easily degradable, washable, and free of secondary amines. Traditionally used in shower personal care products like shampoos and body washes.

For in vitro diagnostic reagents, BND-L can replace sodium azide and thimerosal. It is used in clinical hematology, biochemical, and immunological analysis detergents, diluents, and buffers.

Product Features:

BND-L is highly effective as a preservative in formulations with less than 10% protein content.

It offers broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, excellent compatibility and stability, low toxicity, and biodegradability, extending the shelf life of diagnostic reagents.

It’s suitable for in vitro diagnostic reagents containing organic compounds, nonionic or ionic surfactants, and antigen-antibodies. It will not affect the above components nor effect antagonize each other.

Compatible with most surfactants, but when substances containing -SH groups, such as cysteine and aluminum, will reduce its antimicrobial efficacy.

Usage Suggestion:

For in vitro diagnostic reagents, BND-L is typically added at a concentration of 0.1-0.5% (about 1-5L per 1000L reagent).

BND-L effectively inhibits most bacteria and fungi, but is unstable in high temperatures and alkaline environments, its color darkens under sunlight.

The recommended pH range is 5 to 8.5.  For cosmetics, the maximum permissible concentration in shower products by EU regulations is 0.1% (0.01% BND solid substance).

Refer: Cosmetic products Regulations EC1223/2009

BND-L remains chemically stable below 40°C, within a pH range of 5-8, and is water-soluble. Recommended storage is at 20-30°C with a two-year shelf life. When crystallization occurs below 15°C, it can be recovered by stirring and heating to 40°C.
